The Project:
The purpose of Disappearing Earth is to highlight the effect that habitat destruction has throughout the world. Arctic , rainforest , coral reef and wetlands habitats are featured but they are not the only areas affected. In fact, habitat loss is the greatest threat to the variety of life on earth today.
What You Should Know
At the present rates of extinction, as many as 20% of the world's 7-15 million species could be gone in the next 30 years. This rate of extinction has been unprecedented since the disappearance of dinosaurs 65 million years ago. Habitas are being cleared for human consumption inorder to make way for agriculture, housing, roads, pipelines and the other hallmarks of industrial development.
Take Action!
It's not too late! Help save these habitats and animals. Visit the World Wildlife Fund to see how you can make a difference.
